August Goals

Here we are in August. I can’t believe how quickly this summer has flown by. So far it’s been filled with friends and smaller adventures and I look forward to what this coming month will bring. Here are some of my goals.

Go on mini/weekend vacation – I really want to go to the beach. Need I say more?

Get vacation photos printed – I’m absolutely terrible about printing photos. I know it’s an important thing to do, but I tend to just dump them all on my computer and forget about them. I want to start filling my home with the memories we’ve made.

Organize bookshelves – This summer I’ve done a lot of pulling books out, reading part of them, then shoving them back on a shelf, table, or any other surface I can find. I think it’s about time to go through my bookshelves and organize them a bit better.

Schedule my days before they come – This is a tough one for me. I always seem to have something popping up and I change my plans or make new ones, but I’d really like to be more organized with my time and how I spend it.

July Goals

Ahh, it’s July. I can’t believe how quickly June flew by! Thankfully we still have a couple more months of summer before we’re back into fall and winter. Okay, I won’t go there… Back to more summery things.

Do a juice fast – I’ve been interested in this idea for a while now, but it’s actually kind of a transition into my next goal, which is…

Eat Raw – I’ve wanted to try this ever since I heard about it. I’ve always had one excuse or another (a lot of which have to do with it being cold) and now that it’s summer I think it’s the perfect time to try it. 🙂

Make new curtains for our bedroom – This is something I’ve been putting off for far too long because I don’t have a sewing machine at the moment. I’m planning on buying one ASAP.

Hang art on the walls – Again something I’ve been putting off.

Have a day with friends I haven’t seen in a while – This depends on other people’s plans too. So we’ll see what happens with it this month.

June Goals

June is when we wrap up spring and begin summer once again. I don’t know about you, but that certainly changes the dynamic of life in my home. I guess these goals reflect that.

Enjoy some down time with my husband – We’ve both been pretty busy lately, and I’m hoping this month will give us some time to relax and spend time together.

Make the most of the beginning of summer – Meaning get outside and explore! Maybe have a few yummy, summery treats along the way. 🙂

Get out for lots of walks – Possibly start hiking, but I’d like to spend more time outdoors.

May’s Goal Grades

May has been a crazy month for me. I’ve done way more baking than I typically would this time of year, which has been great! But it’s also been a bit distracting.

Here’s how I did on my goals this month.

Make granolaF

Yeah, that didn’t happen. But I did enough baking and experimenting that I think I made up for it.

Do something with all the shampoo bottles in my showerA

To the recycling they went! 🙂

Clean out the refrigeratorB

I didn’t do this fully, but I definitely went through a lot of what I had in there.

Multi-course mealC

I shared one of these getting together with some friends while we all brought something. So it kinda counts? Not fully though…

May Goals

After setting some goals last month this is something I definitely want to continue doing. It just helps set some focus for the month and keeps me aware of things I’d otherwise fall behind on. This month I’m keeping it pretty simple.

Make granola – I’ve been wanting granola for a long time now and it’s the perfect spring/summer breakfast or quick and easy snack.

Do something with all the shampoo bottles in my shower – Am I the only one with a growing collection of nearly empty shampoo and conditioner bottles accumulating in my shower? As nice as it is to have my options, I really need to condense those bottles down and use, then throw away, the ones that are nearly gone.

Clean out the refrigerator – This is also something I haven’t really done in a while. I think it’s just about time to clear some things out.

Multi-course meal – This one I’m not so sure on. I had planned one out a few weeks ago, then I just never followed through with it. Since I’ve been doing an actual meal plan I’d like to incorporate this as one of our dinners during the month.

April’s Goal Grades

At the beginning of this month I decided to set some goals for myself. I have to say I like having this and will probably continue. Here’s how I did this month.

 

Follow a meal planB

I’ve made some sort of dinner most days, though I did miss a few and switch a couple others around.

 

Try a new posting scheduleA-

I’ve posted on Mondays, yes, but I wasn’t consistent with times. I also think that once a week just isn’t enough to share all the food ideas I have, and I’m left debating and uncertain about what to post, so that’s something I’m going to need to think about in the future.

 

Read Plate To PixelA

I was really happy about this one. I actually finished it! 🙂

 

Make at least one nice dessertD

I did make a cheesecake, but I didn’t do anything overly elaborate. I made several other smaller desserts though, so I’m not calling it a total failure.

 

Clean out my closetA-

I actually did this fairly early in the month, though I’m giving myself an A- because there are a few items I haven’t decided on yet, and I haven’t done anything with the clothes that I’ve cleared out.

April’s Goals

Today marks the start of a new chapter. And what better way to celebrate than with cheesecake! I could live on cheesecake, it truly is the food of life.

Anyway… On with my new chapter. So I’m not one to stay incredibly organized, especially in the summer months. I tend to drift into snacking and desserts, or salads and smoothies and don’t do a whole lot of cooking. So I’ve come up with a plan to help me stay more organized, make actual meals through the summer and hopefully it will also help me to post more consistently.

On the first Monday of the month I’ll post goals for myself, then we’ll see how I follow through with it. So here are my goals for April.

Follow a meal plan – This past weekend my husband and I came up with a meal plan (then I scheduled this month’s meals). We have a different food category for every day, which I’m hoping will add a bit of consistency to life, yet it still gives us room to improvise if we wish.

Food sets the tone for so much of life, this way each day will have a consistent theme and will help us to get into a routine.

Try a new posting schedule – Yes, I will still be posting on Mondays, but I’m going to try to be more consistent with what and when.

Read Plate To Pixel – I started reading this book quite some time ago, then life took over and I set it down. I’d like to finish it by the end of this month.

Make at least one nice dessert – I probably already make too many desserts (my husband would say there’s no such thing), but I’d like to try something a little special this month.

Clean out my closet – I’ve needed to go through my clothes and organize my closet for a while now. I figure now that spring is here it’s the perfect time.
